THE NEGOTIATING GAME
By Marilyn Lacy ~ Broker ~ RE/MAX Mountain Vista Properties
2.24.05
The process of selling and buying a home may seem like
a tennis game, with the “advantage” swinging back and forth
across the court. With skilled pros representing both interests, eventually
everyone will feel they have “won”. The seller asks a certain
price. The buyer makes an offer, providing a price possibly accompanied
by contingencies and considerations. If the seller does not want to accept
the terms of the buyer’s offer, the seller rejects the offer and
makes a counteroffer, putting the ball back in the buyer’s court.
The buyer can accept the counteroffer, or reject it and make his own counter
offer. The “game” continues until both parties accept a proposal.
Finding an agent whose expert advice you can depend on is extremely important
